Weekly Photo Challenge: Nostalgic

Me with my Daddy in 1964. He always wore bow ties and carried a handkerchief.

Behind us, our black-and-white TV with rabbit ears. We watched the Beatles first live performance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

I still remember screaming as only a three-year-old girl can: I want to hold your hand! I want to hold your hand!”

Later, Dad became an Elvis fan.

    I remember those days too.
And when the Wizard of OZ came out….with the last half of it in “technicolor”, there was such excitement!
When we finally got our first color TV, my mom made us sit as far away as possible, because of potential “radiation.” Now we all sit right in front of color computer monitors all day. Hmmmmm.

Hi Mary, Thank you for stopping by : ) I’m with you on the pc monitors, and cell phones super-glued to our ears. Hmmm. . .That’s why I’ve started learning to draw, needed something non-electronic to help me relax, besides reading real books on paper.

Mahalo, Wendell. I was only there once, but long enough to feel the warmth and heart of the Hawaiian people years later. Blessings and light, Judy : )

Hilarious that I stumbled onto this blog! Somehow the song “I wanna hold your hand” was stuck in my mind all day and now I read it on here. What a coincidence. Your dad had mad style by the way- love it!

How interesting about the song deja vu. For some reason, I now keep hearing, “She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah. . .” Yes, dad had great style. He always wore one of those Mad Men kinda hats whenever he left the house. Thank you for sharing : )

You’re welcome! Come stop by my blog sometime 🙂 It’s a personal project that I’m working on and I hope to get 4000 hits by August 7. Otherwise, I’ll see you around!

I watched that Beatles show, too (6 yrs old at the time), though my dad kept flipping the channels – which meant I had to stubbornly change them manually for him….:)

What a wonderful photo! I remember seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, too, and my parents and grandparents remarking how long and terrible their hair was. 🙂 The hair only got worse!!

How funny : ) I think my parents were happy with the Beatles. Or maybe it was that I danced to their music. Thank you for visiting, Janet.

Touched by the photo and narrative. Endearing description of your dad’s bow ties and hankies. A few words make us love him. And think of our own loved parents. Thank you Judy.
