Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Valeriu, a gifted poet in Rome nominated me for this award. I asked him why. He wrote back simply, “For encouragement.” I’m moved and deeply grateful. The ocean between Italy and America seems smaller now.

His answer reminded me that we each hold the power to bear light for someone else. In every human interaction, we choose to be the candle or the darkness. Which will we be today, tomorrow, the rest of our lives?

Thank you so much for the award, Valeriu, and especially for your encouragement!

Congratulations everyone and happy, inspired blogging!

Now, seven things about me.

1. I want to thank Bill, my husband of 27 years (and best friend for 33 years), for his unwavering support and inspiration as I find my writing voice, and for always filling our home with his lovely, original music, played soulfully on the piano.

2. When we lived in Chicago, we saw Gary Sinise, John Malkovich and Gary Cole perform together at The Steppenwolf Theater before they were “famous”. They mooned the audience during the play about American soldiers in Vietnam called Tracers. We had front-row seats.

3. I love wearing cozy sweaters with hoods, but they’re harder to find.

4. So far, I’ve indulged in one professional manicure and zero professional pedicures or spa massages.

5. I live in a multi-generational household along with a rescued schnoodle, a formerly stray tortoiseshell cat, a sun conure, many budgies and a pair of algae-eating fish.

6. January 4, 2013 is the date I started blogging with WordPress.

7. I think it’s fun to sing along with the Glee version of songs like Defying Gravity and Don’t Stop Believin’ in the car. Other occupants might disagree..

Thank you very much for visiting! Have a Happy Earth Day and enjoy this inspiring song by Carly Simon. She always writes such great lyrics. Let the River Run was partly inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman.
