“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

Howard Thurman‘s Great Hope, written by Kai Jackson Issa, is a recommended read for children during Black History Month, February 1-28 and for all people hoping to achieve their dreams in complex and difficult times.

Thurman influenced and inspired Martin Luther King, Jr. and other civil rights leaders during the era of racial segregation. He also met with Mohandas Ghandi, and embraced nonviolent resistance as the best catalyst for affecting social change .
